Stringwood originated in Richmond, Virginia as a five man band in the late 80's. The members included talented musicians with sounds primarily influenced by the folk rock artists that dominated so much of the era. With the band split Ed moved to the beach shortly after Hurricane Hugo blew in. Throughout the years the Stringwood Duo (Mac & Ed)swooned audiences with acoustic guitars and mellow harmonies, playing at clubs up and down the Grand Strand.

With Mac's departure in the late nineties, other local musicians contributed their talent to the mix.  The most recent addition is Bobby Shropshire who came on board in April 2003.  He adds a blend of electric leads intermixed with comedic relief taking the Duo to a new level.  With the year 2006, came the addition of seasoned drummer  Paul Cook. An elite drummer who has toured with many in Nashville and plays around the area with various bands. Paul adds a unique rhythm style to the Stringwood sound.

Today Stringwood is an audience oriented duo/trio performing music from the 50's and 60's including the great Motown era; 70's pop and rock; and the big 80's. Throw in a good dose of Jimmy Buffett, some island music, a little hot and traditional country , some current rock and you begin to hear the Stringwood variety. With a wide range of original and cover songs in the repertoire, Stringwood can take you to far away places on a nearby budget!
